What Wi-Fi 7 adds to mesh

Wi-Fi 7 helps mesh more than it helps a single router, because every mesh system depends on the wireless hop between units. Multi-Link Operation and 320 MHz channels on 6 GHz make that hop faster and less likely to stall.

Not every Wi-Fi 7 kit is equal. Tri-band models keep a band free for the link between units; dual-band Wi-Fi 7 kits are cheaper but share it with your devices. Check the ports as well: a 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps port only helps if your plan or wired backhaul can use it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wi-Fi 7 mesh worth it over Wi-Fi 6E?

If your internet plan is faster than 1 Gbps or you are buying for the next five years, yes. The biggest gain is the wireless link between units, which Wi-Fi 7 makes faster and steadier.

Do my devices need Wi-Fi 7?

No. Older phones and laptops connect fine. The link between mesh units benefits right away, while your own devices get the full Wi-Fi 7 speed only once they support it.

What is MLO?

Multi-Link Operation lets a device or mesh unit use two bands at once, which cuts lag spikes when one band gets busy.
