Choosing a Google router
Google’s mesh systems trade advanced settings for simplicity: setup and management run through the Google Home app.
Nest Wifi Pro adds Wi-Fi 6E and a Thread border router for smart home devices, but it can’t join an older Google Wifi or Nest Wifi network.
Frequently asked questions
Is Google Wifi the same as Nest Wifi?
No. Google Wifi is the original 2016 system, Nest Wifi followed in 2019, and Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E) in 2022. Nest Wifi Pro does not mesh with the older two.
How do I manage Google mesh Wi-Fi?
Through the Google Home app. Settings are simple, with fewer advanced options than most brands.
