Extending mesh Wi-Fi outdoors

Outdoor mesh units bring the same network to a yard, deck, pool or detached garage. They are sealed against weather and join your indoor system, so devices roam between them like any other unit.

Check the weather rating (IP65 or IP66), how the unit is powered, and which indoor system it pairs with. An outdoor unit from one brand will not join another brand’s mesh.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use any mesh unit outside?

Not safely. Indoor units are not sealed against rain, dust or temperature swings. Outdoor units carry an IP65 or IP66 rating for that.

Does an outdoor unit work with my indoor system?

Only within the same family: an eero Outdoor 7 joins an eero network, a Deco outdoor unit joins Deco, and so on.

How do I power an outdoor unit?

Most take Power over Ethernet (PoE) or a weatherproof adapter. PoE is the neatest option because one cable carries power and the network.
